Training Day With West Michigan Aircare

Jul 18, 2023

Practice Makes Perfect!

EMS Providers can never be too prepared for traumatic events that they find themselves responding to. Thanks to West Michigan Aircare, we gained valuable insight into how we can make the transition in treatment from our staff to the physicians and nurses that respond via air medical transport as efficient as possible.

Working alongside our comrades from West Michigan Air Care, Marshall City Fire Department, Marshall Township Fire Department, Marengo Township Department, and Fredonia Township Fire Department everyone was able to work several mock scenarios which included extrication from vehicles. Efficiency at rapid, safe extrication is paramount during the critical moments following a traumatic accident, as well as management of the trauma patient.

We would also like to thank Bud's Towing for providing vehicles for the training and for allowing EMS to utilize their facility where Air Care was able to land and departments could converge.

We sincerely appreciate the dedication of our staff members who attended the event and to the fire departments in the Authority who are of utmost importance to us...and our patients...in the chain of survival. We couldn't do our job without these men & women! Thank you!

Early morning preparations for trauma training.

Awaiting the mock accidents.
